Uddevalla, Sweden – 27 February 2026
Infiniteria takes note of Scandinavian Enviro Systems’ announcement last night that it is applying for company reorganisation, and of its year-end report published this morning.
Infiniteria is a joint venture between Antin Infrastructure Partners (significant majority shareholder), Scandinavian Enviro Systems and Michelin (both minority shareholders) to build a leading European tyre recycling business. Construction on Infiniteria’s first plant in Uddevalla, Sweden, began in 2024, and it is intended that additional plants will be established across Europe, notably in France and Italy.
The facility in Uddevalla is wholly owned by Infiniteria and is being developed with Enviro as its technology and project management partner. The facility has been subject to significant delays and cost overruns. The original mechanical completion date was May 2025, and the handover to Infiniteria was initially planned for end-December 2025. However, the date of mechanical completion and subsequent handover has been repeatedly delayed. The ongoing delays are now jeopardising Infiniteria’s ability to uphold certain customer and supplier commitments, due to the lack of clarity around completion and commissioning timelines.
Infiniteria maintains that these numerous delays and resulting cost overruns are the consequence of a series of unilateral contractual breaches by Enviro.
Infiniteria and Antin engaged with Enviro over several months to try to find a constructive, workable solution to keep the Uddevalla project moving. However, Enviro has sought changes to the existing agreements that would have shifted additional cost and risk to Infiniteria, rather than addressing the chronic underlying delivery issues.
After several months of unsuccessful attempts to find a solution, we initiated arbitration proceedings before the London Court of International Arbitration on 4 February 2026, following advance notice at an Infiniteria Board of Directors meeting on January 12th. This step was taken to protect Infiniteria’s contractual rights, safeguard our investment in the facility, and secure our ability to meet customer commitments. Infiniteria has, throughout, complied with its contractual obligations in respect of the Uddevalla plant, including its payment obligations under existing agreements, and will continue to do so.
Completing the Uddevalla plant is in everyone’s interest. However, Enviro’s proposed paths forward have centred on requiring Infiniteria and its owners to assume additional financial burden for delays and overruns that Infiniteria attributes to Enviro’s own performance issues.
While the facility is facing delays as a result of Enviro’s breach of contractual obligations, we remain fully committed to building a leading European tyre recycling business. We remain fully focused on finding a constructive solution to complete our wholly-owned tyre recycling facility in Uddevalla as soon as possible. We are evaluating options to support the timely completion of Uddevalla and to advance our wider European strategy.
